![]() Or, as mentioned by layz, take the 423 three stops to Pinglestone Close, cross over the road to take the 81 five stops towards Slough, bus stop Poyle Road. You can however take public bus 60, only one bus an hour. I actually do use the Hoppas there, because the H57 service frequency is quite good, every 22 minutes, and only involves one other hotel, the T5 Travelodge. Their website does have a banner pointing out the difficult situation with black cabs and suggest guests call their concierge on +44 1753 766410 for advice. Hilton T5: nice summer's day, low luggage, best to walk it. Only the onsite hotels (Yotel, Hilton T4 and Sofitel) plus the Jury's at Hatton Cross have a clear advantage over that. These latter three are a bit further away.īut staying at the Paddington or Metropole Hiltons broadly puts you 30 minutes away from T1, T2 when it opens, T3 and T5, which is pretty much the same territory as the Bath Road hotels. ![]() There's also a Doubletree at Marble Arch, and Doubletree and a separate Hilton at Queensway end of Hyde Park. Note that Prospero had a poor and noisy experience there, recounted on the Hilton forum, however if you ask for a room in the West Wing you're unlikely to have a problem, though you may sacrifice the view from the Tower. This is my preferred London hotel, for a variety of reasons, one of which temporarily doesn't apply: the Edgware Road Bakerloo station is closed for refurbishment for a few months. So only one Hilton at T5, one at Paddington I guess?Yes, there is a Hilton in Paddington Station, in addition there is the Hilton Metropole a short walk down Praed Street. There are only three HEX stations, Heathrow T5, CA.and Paddington. You can also get a bus to Bath Road and then get an 81 (TFL so Oyster and contactless cards accepted) heading towards Slough which goes quite close to the Hilton (alight at the Arora Park hotel). I should have done my researchĪs I don't particularly want to support this airport granted monopoly in its current form I now normally get a cab to the Hilton (pre-booked as this Hilton is not in London so black cabs rip you off), or even walk it if I have little luggage (I think it was C-W-S that gave me walking directions).Īs far as I know some of the 'Slough-Heathrow 7 Series" buses go very close to the Hilton T5 from Terminal 5, but as they're not TFL and I have no idea how much change I'd need to use them I tend to not bother. ![]() If I ever had big luggage I'd take a local minicab but I don't recall that I've ever had anything but hand luggage. The Hoppa experience from T5 to the Hilton 'T5' was what made me think it was probably a fine option to the DoubleTree as well, I didn't expect it to call at T4 and the Sofitel. There is only 1 hotel I stay at where I am annoyed at being 'forced' to use the Hoppa and that's the Hilton "T5". It will cost you on the Oyster if you just have PAYG.but not as much as the Hoppa, and with the satisfaction of not having paid the Hoppa too. It is easier from Central for sure but doable from T5/Hatton Cross without as much extra hassle as I first feared. ![]() For the DT I grab the 423 and get off by the Skyline then get the next bus up Bath Road that goes past the DT (105, 111, 222, etc.). I've been staying at LHR a lot for work reasons recently even if not actually flying every day, and at various hotels depending on price/points whoring. This would stop the delays with people asking the drivers questions. Perhaps they should have customer service people at the bus stops at the terminal to offer assistance and maybe sell tickets in advance. Accepting cards would be nice for those who have no reason to carry cash (GBP) and maybe accept at least Euros and Dollars even if the exchange rate isn't good. I'd actually be happy to pay £4 (£4.50 on the bus) for the Hotel Hoppa if it was a more customer friendly experience. I've had blank looks from many drivers when asking about that hotel. Jcm9000: by Hilton Bath Road I guess you mean the Doubletree. At least there's a chance your contactless card may work (the doubletree is outside the free zone, but if all else fails you can get the bus as far as the free zone and walk the rest - or just stay on anyway ) Contactless cards issued by non-UK banks will not all work on TfL buses - and in my experience not all UK ones either for that matter. It's still a better experience than turning up at a Hoppa bus stop without cash. ![]()
